Integrated science is a 2 year program that incorporates Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Science. Integrated Science 1-2 is generally taken in 9th grade and Integrated Science 3-4 during 10th grade. Both classes are graduation requirements. Students will solve problems using a logical scientific process, improve written and oral communication skills, understand key scientific concepts, and employ technology in their problem solving efforts. Higher order thinking and questioning skills, practical applications, and hands on laboratory investigations will be emphasized. Course Content: Integrated Science 1-2 will cover the following units: Fall Semester: Origins, SF Bay, and Climate (Part I) Spring Semester: Climate (Part II), Disease, and Science Research Each science unit will have a series of Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions. The Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions are aligned with the California State Standards (Life and Earth Science) that will be taught in this course. The Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions will help you understand and analyze important scientific concepts. In this class, each learning activity you engage in will help you understand the Enduring Understandings and answer the Essential Questions in a well thought out and meaningful way. Link to TOC |
