My name is Alexandra Zannie Dallara and I will be a student teacher in your son/daughter’s integrated science class. This opportunity is the last step I will take before receiving my Preliminary Credential in science from Dominican University of California. I am a Drake High School Graduate and I’m very excited to be back at Drake. I will be in the classroom working with Mr. Clark during the entire spring semester. I completed a master’s degree in biology in 2011 at Sonoma State University. During my graduate work I taught laboratory sciences in biology and became vary passionate about teaching, at which point I began perusing a teaching credential.
Please read and go over this information concerning classroom procedures. I believe this will assist us in getting off to a successful start. Please feel free to contact me with any questions concerning your son or daughter. Please email me with any concerns and I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can leave a voice message if you prefer. Make sure you leave your name, your child's name, a number where you can be reached and a specific time to reach you. This will make communicating with each other much more successful.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime with any questions or concerns. You can contact me by email at [email protected]. My website will be updated with homework and assignments regularly, http://zanniedallara.weebly.com. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your child in the upcoming weeks.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Dallara Student Teacher Dominican University of California San Rafael, CA 94901
CLASS REQUIREMENTS--------I have given a course outline to your student with the requirements for this class. Please review the handout so you know what is expected of your student.
HOMEWORK----------------------It will be assigned at the beginning of each class period on a daily basis. It will be written by your child on their assignment sheet or Pirate Planner at the start of each class. No late work will be accepted unless your child’s absence is excused. Homework can be viewed on a daily basis on my web page if your student misses class, website: http://zanniedallara.weebly.com/assignment-sheet.html. Homework will be checked daily, given a stamp for completion credit and discussed in class. These stamps are worth points and will contribute to their notebook grade at the end of each unit. If a homework assignment is missed, students can still complete the assignment to receive credit for their notebook grade but they will not earn the stamp points.
TEACHER HELP-------------------If necessary, extra help can be arranged for outside of class time tutoring; i.e. lunch by arrangement with me, tutorial time on Wednesday or Friday, or by email.
MAKE-UP WORK/GRADES-----------------Make-up work will be accepted if the absence is excused. The amount of days a student misses class will be the amount of time to make up the work. Laboratory make-up must be arranged with me but students will lose their class participation points for the lab if they are not present. Students need to see me to arrange make-up quizzes and tests. These will often be different than quizzes and tests given during the period. Grades can be checked on e-school home access center. I will update grades on a weekly basis.
BEHAVIOR-----------------------If your son or daughter disrupts the learning environment for others in the class with behavior or tardy problems, he/she will be penalized by losing their class participation/attitude/cooperation points-3 given per day.
Please sign below that you have read this sheet and the course outline sheet that was given to your student. If you should have any questions concerning your son or daughter this year in science, please feel free to contact me via e-mail at the top of this page.
